Two screens already take up a good amount of space. Add a keyboard, mouse, phone, notebook, charger, pens, sticky notes, and a few random accessories, and suddenly there is barely any room left to actually work.
That was basically my desk before I bought the Simple Houseware Dual Monitor Stand Riser with Drawer.
I was not trying to completely redesign my workspace. I just wanted something that could raise my monitors a little, free up some desk space, and help me keep everything more organized.
I have now been using this dual monitor stand riser for around six months.
And after living with it every day, I have a much clearer idea of what it does well, what could be better, and who should actually consider buying one.
The Short Version Before I Get Into Everything
Overall, this has been a very useful addition to my desk.
The biggest difference is not actually the monitor height. It is how much cleaner and more organized my workspace feels now.
The stand gives me room underneath my monitors, places for small office supplies, a tray for things that usually disappear around the desk, and built-in holders that I can use for my phone.
It can also expand from around 33.3 inches wide to roughly 45 inches, which gives you quite a bit of flexibility with two monitors.
That adjustability was one of the main reasons I chose it.
My only serious warning is the height.
The stand itself is around 5 inches tall, and depending on your desk and monitor, that can raise your screen more than you expect.
I will talk more about that later because it is something I wish more people mentioned before buying a monitor riser.
Why This Stand Ended Up on My Desk
I originally started looking for a dual monitor stand because I wanted more usable desk space.
My monitors were taking up most of the back section of my desk, and everything else was slowly getting pushed toward me.
My phone would sit beside the keyboard.
Pens would be somewhere between my notebook and mouse pad.
Small accessories like adapters, USB drives, paper clips, and charging cables never really had a permanent place.
Nothing was terribly wrong with my setup, but it always felt slightly messy.
I considered getting a simple monitor shelf at first.
The problem was that most of the ones I found were just that: a shelf.
This one seemed more practical because it combined the monitor riser with storage.
There is space underneath the stand, side storage sections, phone holders, and a movable organizer tray with removable dividers.
The tray comes with six dividers, so you can create several smaller compartments instead of throwing everything into one drawer.
I also liked that the monitor sections were not completely fixed.
With a dual monitor setup, I prefer having the screens spread out slightly and angled toward me rather than sitting perfectly straight.
Being able to adjust the width and positioning made this one much more interesting to me than a basic fixed monitor shelf.
Six Months Later, Here Is What I Actually Think
After around six months of regular use, I still like it.
That might sound like a simple answer, but with desk accessories, I think that actually says a lot.
Some products seem useful during the first week and then slowly become something you stop noticing or stop using.
This one has stayed part of my normal setup.
The biggest improvement has definitely been organization.
I now have specific places for things that used to move around my desk all day.
Pens and small notepads can stay in the side storage areas. Sticky notes, adapters, clips, and other small items stay in the organizer tray.
I also use the open area underneath the stand for things I want nearby without having them sitting directly in front of me.
That extra space makes my desk feel bigger even though the actual desk has obviously not changed.
The adjustability has also been useful.
I have my monitors spread apart slightly instead of placing them right next to each other. Being able to change the width made it easy to fit the stand around the way I actually like to work.
When fully extended, it reaches around 45 inches wide, so there is a reasonable amount of room for different dual-monitor layouts.
I have also found it stable enough for everyday use.
Once my monitors were in position, I did not notice annoying movement or wobbling during normal work.
Assembly was also much easier than I expected.
I did not have to spend an hour trying to figure out confusing parts or instructions. The setup was fairly straightforward, which matches what quite a few other users have said about it.
The Small Features I Ended Up Using More Than Expected
One thing I did not think I would care much about was the built-in phone holder.
Now I use it almost every day.
Before I had this stand, my phone usually stayed flat beside my keyboard.
That meant every time I received a notification, I would either pick it up or lean over to see what it was.
Now I can keep it standing in front of me.
I can glance at a call or message and decide whether it actually needs my attention without constantly reaching for the phone.
It is a very small feature, but it makes the desk feel more organized.
The organizer tray has also been more useful than I expected.
Because the dividers are removable, I am not forced into one layout.
At one point I had lots of small compartments for USB drives, clips, and adapters. Later, I removed some dividers to make more room for larger items.
That flexibility makes it much more practical than a normal drawer with one big empty space.
The side storage sections are simple, but they are exactly the kind of thing you start using without thinking about it.
Mine usually hold pens and things I need quickly.
One Thing You Really Need to Measure Before Buying
This is the biggest issue I have with the stand, although I would not exactly call it a flaw.
It is around 5 inches high.
That does not sound particularly tall when you read it online.
It feels much more noticeable once your monitor is sitting on top of it.
If your monitor is currently slightly too low, that extra height can be great.
But if your monitor is already close to eye level, raising it another 5 inches could make your setup uncomfortable.
This is especially important if you use a standard 29-inch-high desk and a larger monitor.
One customer mentioned using a 29-inch desk with a 29-inch monitor and finding the final screen position too high for their height.
I can completely understand how that happens.
Your ideal setup depends on several things, including your desk height, chair height, monitor size, monitor stand, and how tall you are.
So before ordering this, I would literally sit at your desk and measure 5 inches above your current monitor position.
See where the screen would end up.
That one-minute check could save you from buying something that does not work ergonomically for your desk.
There Are a Few Annoyances Too
I do not want this review to sound like the product has no downsides.
The first one is cleaning.
A simple flat monitor shelf is very easy to clean.
This one has sliding sections, storage areas, dividers, corners, and small compartments.
Dust eventually finds its way into those areas.
Every once in a while, I need to take some things out of the organizer and clean underneath and around everything.
It is not a huge problem, but there is definitely more to clean than there would be with a simple stand.
The second issue is that all the storage can tempt you to keep too much stuff on your desk.
That is probably more of a personal problem than a product problem.
Give me nine little compartments and eventually I will find nine categories of random things to put in them.
I still have to clean the desk occasionally instead of treating the organizer like permanent storage for every cable and USB adapter I own.
Does It Actually Make Working More Comfortable?
For me, yes, but this is where your setup matters.
Having the monitors higher means I am not looking down as much while working.
I spend a lot of time in front of a screen, so having the monitors positioned comfortably makes a noticeable difference during longer sessions.
But I would not automatically say that raising a monitor is always better.
The goal should be getting the screen to a comfortable height, not simply making it higher.
If your monitor is already correctly positioned, you may not need a riser at all.
That is why I think this product works best when you need both the extra height and the extra storage.
If you only need monitor positioning, a proper monitor arm may give you more control.
But if you want monitor elevation and better organization at the same time, this type of stand makes a lot more sense.
Who I Think Will Get the Most Use Out of It
I think this dual monitor stand is best suited to people working from a home office or a desk where space is starting to feel limited.
If you use two monitors and constantly have notebooks, pens, cables, your phone, chargers, and other small accessories around you, the storage becomes genuinely useful.
It also makes sense for someone who does not want to install monitor arms.
Monitor arms are great, but not everyone wants to clamp something to their desk or deal with mounting two displays.
This stand is a much simpler solution.
It can also work well for students, remote workers, content creators, programmers, and people who regularly switch between a laptop, monitor, tablet, and phone.
I could also see it making sense for some gaming setups, especially if desk organization matters as much as monitor positioning.
On the other hand, I would probably skip it if you already have your monitors at the perfect height.
I would also think twice if you have particularly large monitors sitting on tall factory stands.
Adding another 5 inches may simply be too much.
Would I Buy It Again?
Yes, I would.
Not because it completely transformed the way I work, but because it fixed several small annoyances at the same time.
My monitors are positioned better.
I have more usable space underneath them.
My phone has its own place.
Pens and small office accessories are easier to find.
My desk generally stays cleaner.
And because the stand can expand and adjust, I am not locked into one exact monitor arrangement.
Those things may sound minor individually, but when you work at the same desk every day, small improvements add up.
The most important thing I would tell someone before buying it is to measure their setup first.
If the 5-inch height works for your desk and monitors, I think this is a very practical dual monitor stand riser with storage.
If that height puts your monitors too high, no amount of extra organization is going to make the setup comfortable.
For me, though, it has earned its place on my desk.
After six months, I am still using the storage every day, still using the phone holder, and still happy with how my monitors are positioned.
That is probably the best recommendation I can give it.
